In short

A chef resume lists your kitchens in reverse order with the numbers you were responsible for: covers, team size, food cost and labor. Use this builder to fill in contact details, a two to four sentence summary, positions with highlights, education and certifications, then download a one or two page Letter PDF.

Bullets that get interviews

Weak: Responsible for ordering. Strong: Cut weekly produce spend 11% by consolidating to two vendors and setting par levels. Every bullet should answer one question a chef has: how big was the operation, did you control cost, can you lead people, can you hold standards. If you need the skill vocabulary, our list of chef skills for a resume groups them by role.

Send it with a portfolio

A resume says where you cooked; photos show what you cook. Build a matching PDF in the chef portfolio builder and, for hotels and private households, add a one page letter from the chef cover letter generator.

Build my resume free

How long should a chef resume be?

One page for line and prep cooks, up to two pages for sous chefs and above. Older roles beyond 12 to 15 years can be reduced to a single line each.

Should a chef resume have a photo?

Not in the US or Canada, where photos on resumes are discouraged. Put your food photos in a separate portfolio PDF instead and link to it in your header.

Is the chef resume builder ATS friendly?

Yes. The PDF uses real text with standard section headings, single-column layout and embedded fonts, which applicant tracking systems can parse.

Can I edit my resume later?

Your text is saved in your own browser, so you can return on the same device and keep editing. Nothing is stored on a server, so download a copy when you finish.

What skills should I list on a culinary resume?

Technical skills you can be tested on in a trial shift (butchery, sauces, pastry, specific cuisines), operational skills (food cost, ordering, HACCP) and certifications. Keep it to one compact block and prove the important ones in your bullets.
